SPUR PROJECTS x AMVLETO PRESENT Del Zoológico de Moctezuma (From Moctezuma's Zoo) Original Works by Christian Poire A SPUR SALON — Fall 2026West Hollywood, Los Angeles, California

Artista & Polimata
Once, Montezuma kept a zoo. Jaguars, flamingos, serpents, birds nobody had names for—not pets, but a cosmos with claws, the whole Aztec universe pacing in cages. Then Spain arrived and burned it into a footnote.
Spur Projects, in partnership with Daniela Garcia Romero's AMVLETO, is pleased to present new works by Christian Poiré.
Poire doesn't illustrate this lost menagerie so much as dream it wrong on purpose—flamingos returning as survivors, geometry looping like a fever, fragments of a dead cosmology surfacing through the ornament and refusing to explain themselves. Memory never comes back clean, and Poiré knows it.
COLLECTIVE ART SHOW : “THE GRASS IS NOT GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE”
The exhibition “The Grass is not Greener on the Other Side” Invites us to reflect on the constant search for an ideal that always seems to be out of reach. This title, which alludes to the popular expression, questions the human tendency to desire what we do not have, to idealize the distant and unknown while we devalue the close. Through a series of works that explore themes of displacement, belonging, migration, identity and frustrated expectations, the artists participating in this exhibition confront the complexity of our own perceptions.
