We are happy to announce our upcoming AMVLETO ART exhibitions starting on October 24th at AMVLETO GALLERY downtown San Jose del Cabo, Art District, Ildefonso Green street showing a collective art exhibition titled “THE GRASS IS NOT GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE” conformed by local and foreign artists; Alejandro Mondragón, Citlali Haro, Karla Rodríguez, Luis Vélez (TUNAS), Mariana Valenzuela.
"The Grass is NOT Greener on the Other Side" delves into the human condition, exploring the innate desire to seek what seems out of reach. Through diverse artistic expressions, this exhibition reveals the tension between aspiration and reality, exposing the allure of the forbidden and the allure of the unattainable.
The Grass is not Greener on the Other Side
The exhibition “The Grass is not Greener on the Other Side” Invites us to reflect on the constant search for an ideal that always seems to be out of reach. This title, which alludes to the popular expression, questions the human tendency to desire what we do not have, to idealize the distant and unknown while we devalue the close. Through a series of works that explore themes of displacement, belonging, migration, identity and frustrated expectations, the artists participating in this exhibition confront the complexity of our own perceptions.
The thematic core of this exhibition revolves around the notion of dissatisfaction: the idea that life and circumstances could always be better somewhere else, under other conditions. This universal impulse for the unattainable reflects both a critic of the culture of comparison and a deeper reflection on the migrations, both physical and emotional, that define the human being. The works gathered in the exhibition explore the false horizons and unfulfilled promises that arise when the desire for” a better place “ is constantly pursued but rarely achieved. The artists Alejandro Mondragon, Citlali Haro, Karen Rodriguez, Luis Velez, Luia Corsini y Mariana Valenzuela present a diversity of media-painting, drawing, ceramics, photography & video- to examine this tension between what we have and what we long for. Each work acts as a mirror that reflects different facets of the human experience: disconnection from the present, the desire to belong and fantasies of the other. However underlying the exhibition is an invitation to rethink our ideas about place and home. Through critic of this constant search the artists challenge us to reconsider whether “the other side” is truly better or whether our projections have clouded our ability to value what we already have.
The” notion of place” is central to the exhibition.
In a globalized world where physical and cultural borders have become more blurred, the idea that there is a “better “space has taken on new dimensions. The exhibition raises questions about nostalgia for home, the promises of modernity and the tension between rootedness and mobility. The Grass is Not Greener on The Other Side invites us to rethink how we construct our sense of identity and belonging.In the end this exhibition not only questions the myth of “the other side” as a better option, but also opens a space for “acceptance” of the present, of our immediate environment, of the places we inhabit and the lives we build in them.
“The Grass is Not Greener on The Other Side”, reminds us that like the grass we see on the other fence, our perceptions are shaped by desires and expectations that do not always align with reality. True wealth, the exhibition suggests, is not found elsewhere, but in the ability to appreciate and transform the place we occupy.
